When we experience disappointment and heartbreak, it can be easy to succumb to our emotions and wallow in our grief. Yet, as children of God, we have the assurance of His comfort in all our afflictions. Though it may be hard to see and painful to experience in the moment, we can take comfort in the fact that God will use our heartbreak journey to help others. As we open our hearts to receive God’s comfort in our affliction, He will in turn allow us to comfort others with the same comfort we receive from Him. We can become a conduit of teaching others how to hope in God through heartbreak.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
– 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (ESV)
In my most recent interview, I sat down with Ms. Dorothy Ford for a heart-to-heart chat on what it has looked like for her to walk through the heartbreak of losing her daughter to breast cancer less than a year ago. The treasures she is learning as she prays her way through are invaluable, and there is a consistent thread of God’s comfort and faithfulness woven throughout her story. May you be empowered through the Biblical insight and practical encouragement we share, and may you walk away from this conversation filled with the hope of Jesus Christ.
